Who would have expected that a single tweet at a complete stranger could spark a lifetime of change?
24-year-old Leonie Sii who hails from Australia, met her Swedish soul mate, Mattia Holmbom after sending him a tweet. Little did she know then, that her simple Tweet paved the way for a relationship.
Back in 2012, Leonie was ending a particularly glum day watching gaming videos on YouTube. She was browsing video after video in the wee hours of the night when she came across a video posted by Mattias on his YouTube channel.
Somehow, despite lying in the aftermath of the bad day she had, Mattias’s video managed to lift her spirits up and gave her a good laugh.
Something came over her and she ended up searching for his Twitter profile, just to compliment the Swede of his video.
To the 24-year-old’s surprise, Mattias responded to her tweet instantaneously. Since then, the both of them had been sharing long conversations with each other via Skype for a good 9 months before he decided to fly from Sweden to Australia to meet her.
According to Mattias, his dad paid for his flight ticket to Sydney and had been really supportive of him in this relationship.
Their love continued to grow even when Mattias returned to Sweden after his one month stay.

Soon after, Leonie went to Switzerland for a study exchange program. The lovebirds saw each other frequently and travelled across Europe hand-in-hand during Leonie’s stay.
‘It was a dream come true, and it was great to be able to spend it with someone who was equally as excited.’ said Leonie.

The couple both own a Youtube channel documenting their little getaways throughout the course of 4 years. Mattias uploaded a video of him visiting Sydney which has been viewed more than 400,00 times since it was first uploaded.
Currently, both of them are working in Sydney- Leonie as a blogger, and Mattias as a video editor and content creator.
Maybe online dating isn’t that bad, after all.
