KUALA LUMPUR: Non-governmental organisation Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) has handed over confidential documents to the police that allegedly links George Soros with Bersih.
Twenty-four pages of documents were handed over to the police by JMM after it lodged a report over claims that foreign funds were given to Bersih 2.0 to topple the Barisan Nasional government.
Its president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah (pic) claimed the documents linked Bersih 2.0 with the American hedge fund billionaire and Malaysian John Pang, through the Open Society Foundations (OSF) funded by Soros.
“They have collaborated to topple the Government as well as the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak,” he told reporters after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters Tuesday.
Azwanddin said that the documents contained correspondence between Soros and Pang, as well as details of plans and how funds were channelled into the country.
He also urged police to investigate Pang, who allegedly sits on the OSF board of directors.
Azwanddin added that they would also send a list containing the names of 30 individuals – allegedly including political leaders and Bersih leaders – to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) and Bank Negara for investigation.
Earlier, Umno Youth also lodged a report urging police to investigate claims that Bersih, Merdeka Centre and a news portal were funded by OSF to topple the Government.
Exco member Ibdilillah Ishak said that Malaysians must take these claims seriously.
It was reported that the OSF had been funding several local organisations to allegedly influence the outcome of the next general election.
